While the NEPAD aims, principles, and objectives have been domesticated in the State, the office continues with extraordinary domestication efforts, interactions and dialogue with various stakeholders in the public and private sectors in the State, in order to formulate and initiate home grown NEPAD programmes and projects in line with NEPAD Plans of Action and Initiatives.

RIVERS STATE NEPAD BUSINESS GROUP:

In line with NEPAD’s commitment to strengthen the private sector in the State, our office has constituted the Rivers State NEPAD Business Group which is comprised of leading business organizations with broad constituencies. This group will act as a medium between NEPAD and private companies in the State who support its aims and objectives. The office paid an advocacy visit to the Port Harcourt Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (PHCCIMA), and a technical committee has been constituted by the Chamber in an effort to properly coordinate its activities in line with NEPAD’s corporate governance objectives.

Rivers State Sustainable Development Agency (RSSDA): The Rivers State Sustainable Development Agency is a strategic intervention initiative of the Rivers State government set up under an autonomous legal framework by the State Government to re-focus development efforts in the areas of poverty alleviation, rural grassroots and youth empowerment in the State. Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC): NDDC was established in 2000 with the mission of facilitating the rapid, even and sustainable development of the Niger Delta into a region that is economically prosperous, socially stable, ecologically regenerative and politically peaceful. In response to youth led violent agitation, culminating in hostage taking and destruction of oil and gas facilities and installations in the Niger Delta, the NEPAD Rivers State office is collaborating with NDDC to develop Youth Development programmes. The Port Harcourt Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture: PHCCIMA was established in 1957 as an interest group with the objective of articulating business interest in the Niger Delta region and its environs in their transitional period to a post-colonial Nigeria, and thereafter. PHCCIMA continues to work and act on behalf of businesses in our city, region and country, Nigeria, to foster economic development and interact with the legislative and executive arms of this Federation at all levels to ensure a good and enabling economic environment for businesses to grow. The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC): Established by Decree No. 15 of 1993 as amended, NAFDAC is a Parastatal of the Federal Ministry of Health, with the mandate to regulate and control quality standards for Foods, Drugs, Cosmetics, Medical Devices, Chemicals, Detergents and packaged water imported, manufactured locally and distributed in Nigeria. NEPAD is synergising with NAFDAC in the area of Agriculture and Food Security in order to ensure that the people of the State have food in good quantity and quality. Southernfield Development Partners: Southernfield Development Partners was established as a Sustainable Development services providing organization. The conceivers and drivers of the organization have evolved over the last fifteen years training and working as Student Leaders, Environmental and Social Justice Campaigners, Community Rights and Development Workers, Democratic Development & Peace, Conflict Management practitioners and recently Partnership & Investment brokers and Business Development support service providers. Southernfield Development Partners are also the concept owners of “The Conference & Sustainable Development Solutions Marketplace” and Event Managers of the Rivers State Stakeholders Conference for Sustainable Development (RSCSD) Brand.
 
United Nations Institute For Training and Research (UNITAR): UNITAR is an autonomous body within the United Nations with a mandate to enhance the effectiveness of the UN through training and research. United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP): UNEP is the United Nations system’s designated entity for addressing environmental issues at the global and regional level. Its mandate is to coordinate the development of environmental policy consensus by keeping the global environment under review and bringing emerging issues to the attention of governments and the international community for action. United Nations Development Programme (UNDP): UNDP is the UN's global development network, advocating for change and connecting countries to knowledge, experience and resources to help people build a better life. Rivers State University of Science and Technology: Rivers State University of Science and Technology provides courses and programmes not only for individual professionals, but for industry and technological development within and outside the country, through its standard and international academic structures and policies - part of its resolve to provide quality education to students. Presently, the Rivers State University of Science and Technology is partnering with NEPAD Rivers State on the "ICT in Agriculture" project. Perisoss Oil and Gas Limited: Perisoss Oil and Gas Limited is a privately held company incorporated in Nigeria as a full oil and gas service company providing professional (specialist) engineering, environmental, marginal oilfield farm in arrangements, procurement and maintenance services to Nigerian energy (oil, gas and solid minerals) industries. Its activities are backed-up technically by some of the best-known oil companies overseas. Perisoss Oil and Gas Limited is partnering with NEPAD Rivers State on the establishment of a Waste Oil Recycling Plant in Rivers State. The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA): NIMASA is committed to the enthronement of global best practices in the provision of maritime services in Nigeria. Their areas of focus include effective Maritime Safety Administration, Maritime Labour Regulation, Marine Pollution Prevention and Control, Search and Rescue, Cabotage enforcement, Shipping Development and Ship Registration, Training and Certification of Seafarers, and Maritime Capacity Development. The International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD): The International Fund for Agricultural Development, a specialized agency of the United Nations, was established as an international financial institution in 1977 as one of the major outcomes of the 1974 World Food Conference. The Conference was organized in response to the food crises of the early 1970s that primarily affected the Sahelian countries of Africa. The Rivers State IFAD Office and the NEPAD Rivers State Office intend to collaborate in the area of Agricultural Development, as well as Women & Youth Empowerment.
