UPCOMING EVENTS

A few of our upcoming activites are listed below:

Inauguration of the NEPAD Youth Club, Rivers State: To provide a common platform where youths can come together with a common objective of working towards community development, amongst others.

HIV/AIDS Awareness Campaign: NEPAD Rivers State is in collaboration with Alliance Bio-Medical to create HIV Awareness and increase access to HIV/AIDS testing in Rivers State. We are set to achieve this by organizing a series of campaigns tagged "Know Your Status Right Now!" The first of these campaigns is scheduled to hold on Saturday the 19th of March, 2011.

Enterprenuership Workshop: A seminar and training session for the unemployed women and youths, fresh university graduates and serving youth corpers in the state on how to be self employed.

 

NEPAD "Register 2 Vote" CampaignNIMASA-NEPAD Water Transit Safety Initiative: A collaboration between NEPAD Rivers State and the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) on public enlightenment and sensitization on the registration and licensing of water vessels in the Niger Delta, with emphasis on PDSCs (Power-Driven Small Craft), in line with NEPAD’s Transport Action Plan.

South-South Zonal Women’s Summit: Deepening Women’s Understanding of the Implementation of the NEPAD-APRM National Programme of Action (NPoA); reducing poverty amongst women.

“ICT 4 All” Initiative: A series of projects aimed at ensuring that the level of computer literacy is increased among the people of the State, starting with pupils and students of our primary and secondary schools. (ONGOING)

Feedback Mechanism at Grassroots Level: To enhance public participation for sustainable good governance.

“ICT in Agriculture”: An agricultural development programme designed to help improve the State’s agricultural sector by boosting food production through the effective utilization of ICT.

NEPAD Fish-For All Initiative: To revive the seafood industry and ensure the availability of fish all year round, both for consumption and for income generation.

 
 

SOME OF OUR PAST EVENTS

NEPAD "Register to Vote" Campaign: NEPAD Youth Club, Rivers State, embarked on a street campaign in Port Harcourt, to urge the people of the State to register for the upcoming general elections. The campaign took place on Tuesday the 25th of January, 2011, at selected markets and motor parks within the Port Harcourt metropolis.

NEPAD-Africa Trade Fair of Indigenous Products and Services: An initiative of the African Trade Centre in collaboration with NEPAD Nigeria; the Trade Fair was organized to sensitize and mobilize the private sector to take proactive measures to stimulate intra African trade. The Fair will hold every two years. - October, 2010.

NEPAD Nigeria Coordinators' National Conference & Stakeholders' Forum: A gathering of the NEPAD State Coordinators of all the 36 states of the Federation in Port Harcourt, to promote and encourage synergy and collaboration amongst NEPAD State Offices in Nigeria, and to develop strategies to foster the development of our rural communities - 29th-30th July, 2010.

"ICT & U": An on-going ICT Awareness/Sensitization Campaign for Primary & Secondary Schools; the pilot project took place at Holy Rosary College, on the 5th of May, 2010.

First Harvesting Exercise on the NEPAD Integrated Farms Site in Kpite, Tai Local Government Area of Rivers State -April 2010

Agricultural Induction and Training Workshop in the Republic of Ireland by the New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD) Rivers State, in collaboration with Kasha International Agricultural Development Organization (KIADO) -December 12th - 20th 2009

Sensitization/Validation Workshop for FPOs, LGLOs and other Stakeholders on the Implementation of the APRM National Programme of Action NPoA: For effective participation in the process of the NPoA implementation. -December 2009

South-South/South-East State Coordinators' Conference: To encourage synergy amongst NEPAD State Offices within the area in order to reduce poverty and empower the people of the area. -October 2009

Training Workshop for Newly Appointed Local Government Liaison Officers: To build strong partnerships with the Local Government Councils and the grassroots, ensuring our Action Plans are effectively carried out all over the State. -August 2009

FPOs Training Workshop on the Implementation of NPoA in Rivers State: To ensure that FPOs (Focal Point Officers) are fully abreast with the roles of their MDAs (Ministries, Departments and Agencies) in the development process. -April 2009

Sensitization/ Interactive Session with ALGON Rivers State Members: To intimate them of upcoming events, and their role in the NPoA process. -March 2009

Statewide Sensitization/Public Awareness Campaign in all 23 LGAs in the State -April 2008

Meeting with the Country Review Team at Yenagoa: To review the Country Self Assessment Report (CSAR) -March 2008

Sensitization Workshop on the African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) -February 2008
