Agriculture & Food Security NEPAD Rivers State, in partnership with relevant agencies and international bodies, is working to increase the amount and quality of food that Rivers State produces in order to make families more food secure and exports more profitable. We are doing this through the establishment of NEPAD Integrated Farms and the training and building of capacities of indigenous farmers. |

Education NEPAD is working towards Education for All (EFA) in Africa. The programme is built to fit within the framework of the AU Second Decade of Education for Africa (2006-2015), the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and the vision of the African Union on an integrated, peaceful and prosperous Africa. |

Energy Adequate power supply is essential to rural-urban development. NEPAD Rivers State seeks to partner with relevant firms and agencies to help solve the current energy crisis in the State by providing alternative sources of electric power to our rural communities in the State. |

Environment The implementation of global environmental conventions and existing laws, primarily through their domestication at sub-regional, national, State and local government levels is a priority for NEPAD, so as to contribute to sustainable development and poverty alleviation. |

Governance NEPAD-African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) provides a forum for African leaders to assess one another’s performance, recognizing that good governance is a basic requirement for peace, security and sustainable political and socio-economic development, hence the introduction of NEPAD Governance and Public Administration Initiative, which aims at contributing to the political and administrative framework of African countries, in line with the principles of democracy, accountability, transparency, integrity, the respect for human rights and the promotion of the rule of law. |

Health NEPAD Rivers State recognizes health as one of the most serious casualties of the poverty, social exclusion, marginalization and lack of sustainable development that affect the rural populace. NEPAD, through appropriate facilitation, advocacy, leverage and programmes, seeks to address the burden of potentially preventable and treatable diseases that cause unnecessary deaths and untold suffering amongst our people, e.g, HIV/AIDS, maternal and infant mortality and malaria, amongst many. |

Information & Communications Technology(ICT) The NEPAD office, in recognition of the significant developmental role and impact of ICT in the global economy, is establishing an ICT initiative to accelerate the development of ICT infrastructure and ICT skills in primary and secondary schools in the State, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education Educational Trust Fund (ETF) in the utilization of the Interactive Learning Network (ILN). The office is poised to embark on the NEPAD e-school Initiative in Rivers State. |

Tourism Under conceptual development is the NEPAD Rivers State Tourism Initiative, which should culminate in sustainable urban and rural tourism projects as a catalyst for wealth creation and employment generation. The office intends to collaborate with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Ministry of Commerce and Industries, other relevant parastatals, NGOs and the private sector, to facilitate the growth, expansion and creation of Small and Medium Enterprises in the Tourism Economy. |

Transport The goal of NEPAD Rivers State Transport Programme is to help bridge the gap in the transport sector, i.e., reducing the cost of transport and improving the quality of services by bringing together all the organizations involved in the transport sector, voicing their needs and coordinating their work. |

Water & Sanitation Access to clean drinking water is critical for human survival, and is an essential ingredient for improving the lives of those living in poverty in rural communities; hence the introduction of NEPAD Water/Sanitation Initiative, which seeks to partner with relevant organizations, locally and internationally, in order to provide clean drinking water. |
